Ronnie Weir

After just 4 seasons of racing Ian Simpson hit the big time at Donington Park stepping in for the injured Jim Whitham in the Suzuki team in the British World Superbike races. He finished second on the Suzuki 600 in the Supersport 600 race behind Ray Stringer after putting himself second on the grid. However the Dalbeattie Rider went one better in the second race winning by a quarter of a second from Brian Nicholson who had shadowed him for much of the race.
